(1) Opening Remarks

a. The Chairman welcomed members for attending the meeting. KH led members to sing three hymns (¬¡¥X·R¡BÄ@±z¥¦w¡BC¿q¥ÀR·®ö), and Pudens pray for the meeting.

b. It was confirmed that over half of the registered members (8/12) attended the meeting, which complied the requirement of the Paragraph 6.2 of the MMF constitution.

c. Notes of the 2019 AGM had been circulated among members where there was no comment received.

KH raised a motion to confirm the 2019 AGM minutes, and Sara seconded the motion. All agreed without objection. The 2019 AGM notes was confirmed without amendment.

(2) Chairman¡¦s Report

(a) Events run: The MMF is so grateful for the continuous support of Reverend Stephen Miller. We were still making use of the Mariner¡¦s Club, Kwai Chung for our monthly gathering. During the past year, the MMF had run the followings: -

i. Worship, bible study, prayer and sharing had been carried out during the monthly gathering as usual.

ii. Among the 17 times ship visit, 14 members had been regularly involved in which 5 members attendance less than 6 times;

iii. Churches participated ship visits, including CMA Riviera Garden church and Tsung Tsin Whampoa church;

iv. Similar to the last year, the MMF gave away bibles/gospel pamphlets, moon cakes and Christmas gift (sponsored by Mariner¡¦s club) to seafarers; and

v. Because of the chaos and the COVID 19 in the community, the monthly gathering and all activities had been ceased in Oct 2019 and from Feb 2020 to now. This led to the number of ship visits was only 83 which was 33 less in number comparing with the figure of last year.

(b) Pastoral Works: -

i. Pudens led us to study a book named "Discipling Nations ¡V The Power of Truth to Transform Cultures¡¨. Members worked hard to acquire knowledge therein although it was not easy to be comprehended. Because of the¡§Prohibition of Group Gathering¡¨Regulation, there were two occasions that the monthly gathering had been conducted via ¡§Zoom¡¨; and

ii. the proposed retreat camp in Nov 2019 had been cancelled because of the chaos in the community.

(c) Partnership: - With regard to supporting the ¡§Life Front-line Sailing Ministry¡¨, the MMF helped to arrange launches for ¡§Hong Kong Sea School¡¨ (HKSS) for 3 times. In the coming year, the MMF would volunteer to share sea experience to students as per the request of the HKSS.

(3) Financial Report 2019/2020 (See attachment)

i. The MMF annual financial report had been sent to members via e-mail prior to the meeting, and hard copies were provided to members at the meeting. Mr. Fung Wah Hing was appointed as the Honorary Auditor for double checking the financial report of 2019-2020. The total income of 2019-2020 was $58,425.18 while the total expense was $50,548.40. Surplus for this year was $7,876.78. The accumulated surplus (as of March 2020) was $247,316.45.

ii. An accrued expense of "Donations to other Christian organizations" of $12,000.00 was also included. This amount would be donated and deducted in the next year account, causing an actual deficit of $4,123.22 this year.

iii. Other than the free transportation for ship visit provided by the ¡§Confidence Management Ltd¡¨. , the actual expenses for the remaining 9 times ship visit was $12,600.00.

iv. A total amount of donation $3,000.00 for the events of HKSS and Christmas Carol at sea had been received.

v. Owing the chaos and COVID 19 in the community, no donation from members had been received for 3 months.

David raised a motion to confirm the 2019-2020 Financial Report, and Cliff seconded the motion. All agreed without objection.

(4) Budget of 2020/21 (See attachment)

i. The projected annual gross income was $60,600.00. The main source of projected income was the donations from members, churches and organizing activities.

ii. The projected recurring expense was $65,826.00 and the projected non-recurring expense was $13,000.00. The total expense would be $78,826.00.

iii. A deficit of $18,226.00 was expected. Owing to the¡§Prohibition of Group Gathering¡¨Regulation was still in force, physical gathering would be planned in due course. Hence, a less gross income, without members¡¦ donation, would also be expected. The predicted deficit, which was brought forward from the actual deficit last year, was $4,123.22. The surplus $7,876.78 on the attached account would be remained as ¡§Operational Capital¡¨. The predicted deficit would be $18,226.00.

iv. As of 31 Mar 2019, the bank account balance was $247,316.45¡AAfter deducting a $120,000.00 for the "MMF Development Fund", there was $127,316.45 for "Operational Capital". Therefore, virement was not necessary.

v. Donation to five Christian organizations ($1,000.00 each) would be continued in the coming year.

Alick raised a motion to confirm the Budget of 2020-2021, and Cliff seconded the motion. All agreed without objection.

(5) Sharing of evangelist: -

The chaos affected not much to the gathering of the MMF but not the ship visit. Physical gathering for members had been ceased since Feb 2020. We maintained our fellowship via ¡§Zoom¡¨ with interference occasionally. This more or less affected building members¡¦ relationship.

The book we studied was not easy to be comprehended. Nonetheless, the truth could help us to break through our spiritual bundle/sin and release the community from fake and poor. The book reminded us to rethink the mission of Jesus Christ, which ultimate goal was to teach all nations and baptize them (Matt 28:19-20). Mission of the MMF should not only guide someone to become Christians. What we should do was to guide people to become disciples, who could stand still with faith at any time.

(6) Other issues discussed

i. New arrangement for ship visit and gospel works under the¡§Prohibition of Group Gathering¡¨Regulation.

Resolve: Once the HKSARG released the 8 persons ¡§Prohibition of Group Gathering¡¨ Regulation, the MMF would resume physical gathering at the Mariner¡¦s Club. For the ship visit, we would continue to encourage members to participate in giving away bibles/gospel pamphlets and souvenirs at ships side until COVID 19 was fully controlled by the Government and pray on scene for seafarers, coasters , and the YMT anchorage so that gospel could reach them.

David raised a motion to confirm the said arrangement, and Alick seconded the motion. All agreed without objection.

ii. Amendment of the election rules under the Clause 6 of the MMF Constitution.

Resolve:

To enable more members to be elected:

(i) Cancelled Clause 4.2.3 : ¡u ®ü¹B¹Î¤Í©ó®ü¹B·~Â÷¾©Î°h¥ð«á¦Û°ÊÂର¨Ï©R¹Î¤Í¡C¡v

d) The first MMF's one day retreat camp was organized in 22 May 2018, 9 members joined this events. Pastor Echo Cheng SP conducted the whole activity in professional standard. Everyone had a good time, which was free from tension and anxiety. Reading the Bible in this peaceful environment, we can have a deeper understanding of the content. We are planning to hold one overnight retreat camp in November 2019.

e) In view of the circumstance change in China, we may not arrange members to visit local churches in China temporarily. However, we do not oppose personal visits to the China coastal ports for the purpose of understanding the seaman's life in their home port.

f) This year, we also have few occasionally joined with "Life Front-line Sailing Ministry" in some evangelism events. We will continue to maintain a cooperative relationship with them.

(4) Financial Report of 2018/19: -

a) The MMF annual financial report has been sent to members via e-mail prior to the meeting, and hard copies were provided to members at the meeting. Mr. CHAN Chun Chiu was appointed as the Honorary Auditor for double checking the financial report of 2018-19.

A non-recurring income of $4,950 is recorded from assisting training activities for Hong Kong Sea School and organizing boat trip for carol-singing in the Christmas eve.

With the sponsorship of Confidence Management Ltd, only eight of the ship visits were included in the expenses, which amounted to $11,200. An accrued expense of "Donations to other Christian organizations" of $7,000 was also included.

d) In view of the above, the surplus of 2018-19 is 13,483.49. The accumulated surplus (as of March 2019) is $232,439.67.

(6) Evangelist sharing

a) Reflecting upon the last year, it occurred to Pudens that the fequency of ship visits became less frequent due to the machinery failure of boat "Gospel" and the inability to accommodate for everyone's schedules. Ship visits could only be conducted once a month. The objective to engage and care with more seamen could not be achieved.

b) In our monthly fellowship meeting, Pudens has shared with everyone a book titled " God's Power to Change Your Life ", but have our lives changed in the past year? Have we opened up time in our lives for serving the Lord?

c) [And when they came together, he gave them this order: " Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift I told you about, the gift my Father promised. John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."] (Acts 1:4-5).

Pudens has the following reminder for us based on the above bible verse. What are we waiting for? Are we waiting for retirement, waiting for a time when people take initiative to join the fellowship? Could we not be more active, and give more of what we have to fellowship? Could we not take a step further and prioritize fellowship work over services in the church? Although this may at first instance seem difficult for some, but isn't full of challenges and choices? What will be your decision in relation to our fellowship.

(7) Other business

a) As per the invitation of the MMF committee, Chan Chee Mei and Pang Mei Kuen agreed to join the fellowship as a Friendship Member. HAW Wai Ming raised a motion to accept the new members and Pudens seconded the motion. All agreed without objection. All members gave a warm welcome to them as new members.

b) Ship visits will be resumed to twice a month. One of the monthly ship visits will be conducted with the boat "Gospel". Ship visit on "Gospel" will be conducted during weekday whenever the number of participating members reaches four.

c) Newly designed promotional leaflets will be distributed to churches and the public. A Facebook page will be launched for circulating updates and events of MMF.

d) The MMF will increase the financial support to Mr. Pudens CHOW from $2,000 to $3,000 per month from 1st July 2019.

As the building of the Mariner Club in Tsim Sha Tsui was under reconstruction, the MMF thanked wholeheartedly that Reverend Steven Miller allowed us to use the Mariner Club in Kwai Chung for gathering.

2. Guest sharing : a) Our guest shared his recent life experience as similar as book of Job said ¡§the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away¡¨. When evaluating the lives, the priority setting is as if: "successful at Christian" Vs "Faithful at career". Serving the Lord again, he shared vision that there are hundred thousand of fishermen and co-workers from Mainland need Gospel, here come to explore opportunities.

b) John responded that our primary mission is aimed for Chinese seamen.

c) Cliff prayed for a vision sharing, Benz left after his sharing and will join us at the visits, fellowship gathering next time.

b) Chan CC explained main theme how to deal with depression, like Elejah was hunted down and to deal with emotional problems, depression and frustrating. But the return of Nehemiah to rebuild the wall and temple, he has encountered resistance to the project. The exhaustively tired labor was internal factor; limited by the body strength and emotionally affected. Frustration was always in mind. Since educated Israelites who had been captive to Babylon, leaving only the poor, how to rebuild the temple became Nehemiah¡¦s biggest challenge. Nehemiah faced the enemy around, internal opposition further depressing.

c) Chan CC exampled whenever we are weak, it is to reveal the salvation and the mighty God; We shall rely on God at times. In flesh, we often like to show off but inappropriate. Our talent as a gift got to be in serving God.

d) Responses from brothers and sisters, home care of the elderly is frustrating; It is a long way until frustration can be over but God gave us the daily strength to face; However, discouraging with frustration but never not giving up, this might stimulate us to renew ourselves.

Mr. CHAN So Sing,David    Member

Mr. Tony Chan             Guest

I Opening Remark

1) The Chairman welcomed the members attending the meeting and confirmed that over half of registered members (8/10) attended the meeting which complied the requirement of the MMF constitution Para 6.2

2) Fung K H led us to sing the Christian song¡§Á~¤õ¥Ã¶Ç¡¨.

3) Pudens had a prayer before the AGM commencing.

II Confirmation of Minutes of 2016 Annual General Meeting

1) Under item VI No.4 of the 2016 MMF AGM Minute, taking into account of the donation in the aforesaid item V, an additional expense of HK$36,000 would be incurred for coming year; the amount should be rectified as HK$24,000 instead of HK$36,000.

2) David raised a motion to confirm the 2016 AGM minutes. John seconded the motion. All agreed without objection. The 2016 AGM minutes was confirmed.

III Chairman¡¦s Report

1) Follow up action taken to the revised MMF Constitution: A revised copy of the said Constitution had been uploaded to the MMF website and a copy of which had been mailed to the HKPF (Licensing Office) and the Inland Revenue for record purpose.

2) In 2016, MMF organized a total number of 13 outreach activities, including visiting mainland seafarers onboard, delivering moon-cakes once and Christmas gift associated with singing Christmas Carol twice. Participants included those from the MMF members, Tsung Tsin Mission Whampoa Church and C & MA Riviera Gardens Church. Total number of 140 participants were involved.

3) Delivery of bibles and publications by visiting on-board to 182 river trade vessels (RTV). Figures of ship visits had been reduced owing to the reduction of RTV staying in the Yau Ma Tei anchorage. The ships visits had been re-organized to those stayed at the Kellet Bank Anchorage No.2. However, strong wind and waves posed a danger to participants. We were considering the feasibility of organizing ship visits at the Tuen Mun anchorage.

4) Pudens had tried to lead a team to re-visit the RTVs that had previously been visited. However, the Marine Department's website did not display the exact locations of these RTVs. Although they could finally be located, we had difficulties to provide available transportation boat by that time. Hence, this trial had been conducted for 3 months and suspended thereafter.

5) We were planning to arrange one more ship visit per month during the weekday by Pudens and those available members. The boat and coxswain could be ready by giving one day advance notice.

6) Regular fellowship gathering had been held once a month as usual. Total number of 78 fellowship members attended the gathering throughout 2016. From the beginning of 2017, Pudens led the Bible study sessions using the book "God's Answers to Life's Difficult Questions". The information was uploaded onto the website. It may assist members to invite friends attending the monthly gatherings.

7) In November 2016, Maritime Missionary Fellowship Prayer Group was formed. Participants include Pudens, Sara, David, John, and Alick. Pudens was responsible for compiling and organizing the prayer requests, so that participants could provide prayer and support the members in need. We will keep on encourage more members to join the Prayer Group.

8) Preparation of local pleasure craft (PV) Grade 2 license course was being prepared, aiming to keep contact with interested individuals who might help during ship visit or other boat-related work.

9) In May 2016, we visited Mei Mun Alliance Church where we shared the MMF¡¦s vision. We were planning to invite members of this church to join our ship visit ministry.

10) We had been keeping contact with the Life Front-line Sailing Ministry and planning to organize a gathering with them.

IV Accountant's Report

Financial Report of 2016/17:

1) John, the accountant of MMF reported that the annual Financial Statement had been sent to members via e-mail prior the meeting, and the hard copies was provided at the meeting. Honorary Auditor, CHAN Chun Chiu, has audited the Financial report of 2016/17.

2) Total income $58,210.80 mainly from members' and Whampoa Church donation; total expense $43,553.40 including the launch fees for ship visits and honorarium to Pudens. This year surplus is $14,647.40 and the accumulated surplus is $21,4867.40 up to the end of March 2017.

3) The total income is increased 75.36% and meanwhile the expenditure increased 77.96%

( David raised a motion to pass the Financial report of 2016/17 and Sara seconded the motion. All agreed without objection. The Financial report of 2016/17 was passed.)

Budget of 2017/18:

1) Budget total revenue for the year is $57,010.00. The total expenditure for the year is $73,736.00 including recurrent expenditure $53,736.00 and non-recurring expenditure $20,000.00.

2) Due to the expected deficit this year, John suggested to keep this year surplus $14,647.40 as operation capital.

3) Up the end of March 2017, the bank balance $214,867.40 deducted the MMF development fund $120,000.00, the operation capital remain $94,687.40. The expected deficit for the year is $16,726.00

4) John suggested the MMF development fund remains unchanged. Furthermore, if the deficit is worse than expected, overdraft from the development fund may required.

5) The donation to those 5 Christian organizations ($1,000 each ) will carry on this year as our sincere thanks to their support MMF by offering Biblical publication for the ship visit.

(The approval 2017 / 18 Budget of MMF was raised the motion by Sara and seconded by Fung KH. All agreed without objection. The 2017/18 Budget was approved.)

V Evangelist sharing

1) Pudens was impressed by the enthusiasm of MMF in the gospel work to the coastal seaman of Mainland China. This was also part of his ambition in serving God.

2) Pudens shared and suggested that the MMF exercised on board short visits were not enough. The MMF should build a good relationship with these seamen and understand their needs in long term. This could be achieved by spending more time on board and showing the care to them, e.g. bringing some cakes and enjoy tea with them. He was willing to have more ship visits on board as long as the launch is available.

3) Pudens supported that the MMF should arrange visiting mainland China churches more often after visiting Guangxi Churches in April 2017. During that trip, he, accompanying with three members (Alick, John and David), went to visit Guangxi churches where he gained a good exchange of serving experience and explored the possibility of gospel work for coastal seaman.

VI Honorary Advisor suggestion

Mr. Steven Miller advised us that no need to concern too much about the image of MMF such as the logo of MMF. The most important thing was, during ship visits, your body language and attitude which would show how much MMF members were caring about these seamen and the expression of God's love

VII Election of officers and committee members

Four members were eligible for the election as the MMF committee members. They were Alick, John, Cliff and David. All agreed without objection. Election of Chairman and other posts would be conducted among the four members within 14 days.

VIII Other business

1) As per the invitation of the MMF committee, Ann and Tony Chan agreed to join the fellowship as a Friendship Member. All members accepted and gave a warm welcome to these two new members.

2) As there was no other business, Luke led us to pray before the AGM adjourned.

            Member: CHAN So Sing

I Opening Remark

The Chairman welcomed the members attending the meeting.

II Confirmation of Minutes of 2015 Annual General Meeting

In email and hard copies had been circulated among all members for their reference before the meeting. Mr. David CHAN raised a motion to confirm the 2015 AGM minutes. Mr. John HAW seconded the motion. The 2015 AGM minutes was confirmed.

III Chairman¡¦s Report

The Chairman summarized the activities held by the fellowship in the past year including:-

(a)Monthly visits to the mainland coasters anchored in Hong Kong waters, by members and brethren from local churches including CMA Riviera Garden Church, and Tsung Tsin Whampoa Church. Nonetheless, the fellowship failed to have a monthly trip in 3 times owing to the shortage of hired launch, and heavy weather on occasion;

(b)Monthly gathering for members at Tsim Sha Tsui Mariners Club;

(c)A missionary Mr. Pudens CHOW joining for the monthly ship visits and gatherings; and

(d)The rate of members¡¦ participation in the aforesaid activities generally rose to above 6 times a year. He thanked members for their time, contributions and support in the past year.

IV Audited Financial Statement

Mr. John HAW, the accountant of MMF reported that the annual Financial Statement had been sent to members for information via e-mail prior to the meeting, and in hard copies at the meeting for reference, which had been audited by the Honorary Auditor, Mr. C.C. CHAN, adding that in 1.4.2015 - 31.3.2016:

(a) Income of HK$ 32,709.82, and the income by offering compared last year dropped by about 20%

(b) Expenditure of HK$ 24,836.40 incurred mainly by launches hiring fees for 8 ship visit trips, whereas one ship visit trip was offered free of charge by brethren last year; and

(c) The expenditure incurred by donation to 5 Christian bodies, which supported the fellowship mainly by offering Biblical publications; and gears for the ship visits is categorized as routine expenditure starting this year.

V Missionary Pudens CHOW (©P±o»È) to co-work with MMF

The Chairman briefed members that the missionary Pudens CHOW (©P±o»È) has been joining the visiting to seafarers and gatherings of the MMF for months. Mr. CHOW has indicated his consensus to the principle and object of the MMF, meanwhile willingness to care about the visited seafarers¡¦ need of Christianity belief and love as follow-up. But, Mr. CHOW will not be an employee of MMF. In this circumstance, the chairman proposed to invite Mr. CHOW as a free evangelist to co-work with the MMF on the object of the MMF. The MMF will pay an honorarium of HK$2,000 monthly to Mr. Pudens CHOW as an appreciation of his Christian caring for the seafarers. The aforesaid donation is subject to review in a year or in the next AGM. Mr. David CHAN motioned to agree on the Chairman¡¦s aforesaid proposal, Ms. Sara SIU seconded. All members agreed.

VI Budget for 2016-2017

Mr. John HAW, the accountant of the MMF indicated :-

(a) Taking into account of the donation in the aforesaid item V, an additional expenses of HK$36,000 will be incurred for coming year;

(b) The expenditure incurred by donation to those Christian bodies, which supported the MMF by offering Biblical publications for the ship visits will be maintained as our sincere thanks to their supports all along, despite the likely deficit the coming year; and

(c) If the income which mainly attributes to the donation of members, remain the same as previous, a deficit ¡VHK$32,226 is projected. Since the liquid savings of MMF by March 2016 is $80,210, the income plus the aforesaid savings is still sufficient to cover the likely deficit (¡VHK$32,226). Mr. HAW urged the members to consider raising their offers taking into account the honorarium to be paid to the evangelist(s) affiliated with the MMF in the near future. Otherwise, we have to consider to balance the book with the MMF fund, which is however subject to consensus in an EGM or AGM. (See remarks in the attached financial statement).

Mr. Alick NG raised a motion to accept the Budget. Mr. KH FUNG seconded the motion. All members agreed.

VII Rectified the human error on the constitution

Chairman indicated that the IRD wrote to the MMF under its file ref no. 91/8288 questioning about the amendment on the constitution. Its queries includes that the change of the Clause 7.3 (see below) of the constitution was not mentioned in any minutes; meanwhile adding a statement as clause 5.7 (see below) has not been done despite the members agreement in a special members¡¦ meeting dated 3 June 2006. The Chairman indicated the irregularities will be rectified forthwith upon his explanation to attending members and confirmation in this AGM. The changes to Clauses 7.3 and 5.7 are notified and recorded in this AGM. The Licensing Office of Police, and IRD will then be notified of the aforesaid changes accordingly. The Chairman circulated the revised constitution incorporating the aforesaid changes in hard copy among the attending members, who had all agreed. The provisions of the clauses upon amendment are:-
